Mumbai: Kangaroo Mother Care Unit Introduced At Cooper Hospital

Mumbai, 28th March 2023: The Mumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to modernize the hospitals in the suburbs. HBT Medical College and Dr R. N. Cooper Hospital have started a Kangaroo Mother Care unit in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Cooper Hospital. It will make it possible to provide medical treatment and other specialized services to newborns.

This unit in Cooper Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will provide medical treatment and other services to the newborns admitted here. The overall health of babies will be taken care of in this unit. Focus will also be placed on the physical and mental health of mothers. According to the founder of Cooper Hospital, mothers will be trained to take proper care of their babies’ health through the audio-visual set in the Kangaroo Mother Care Room.

This facility was introduced in collaboration with the voluntary organization ‘Action Against Hunger’. For this, Dr Cooper Hospital Director Shailesh Mohite made a special effort. Ashwini Kakkar, President of Action Against Hunger, Chief Executive Officer Dr Ulhas Vasave, Head of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and other dignitaries were present for the inauguration.
