Mumbai: Major Megablock on November 16 to Hit Central, Harbour, Trans-Harbour and Western Railway Services

Mumbai, 15th November 2025: Local train commuters across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region should prepare for a challenging Sunday as both Central and Western Railways have scheduled an extensive megablock on November 16, 2025. The maintenance programme, spanning key sections of the suburban network, will lead to widespread cancellations, diversions and altered service patterns through the day.

Central Line: CSMT–Vidyavihar to Face Major Afternoon Block
One of the most significant disruptions will occur on the Central Line, where both slow tracks between CSMT and Vidyavihar will remain shut from 10:55 am to 3:55 pm.

During this five-hour block:
-Down slow trains leaving CSMT will be diverted to the fast line up to Vidyavihar, halting only at major stations including Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla.
-Up slow services from Ghatkopar will also be shifted to the fast line until CSMT, with limited stops at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel and Byculla.
Normal running will resume after Vidyavihar.

Harbour Line: Vashi–Panvel Stretch to Remain Completely Shut
The Harbour corridor will witness a full suspension of services between Vashi and Panvel from 11:05 am to 4:05 pm.

Cancelled trains include:
Panvel–CSMT services from 10:33 am to 3:49 pm
CSMT–Belapur/Panvel services from 9:45 am to 3:12 pm
All affected trains will remain cancelled for the duration of the block.

Trans-Harbour Line: Restricted Movements, Several Cancellations
Operations on the Trans-Harbour corridor will be limited to the Thane–Vashi/Nerul section during the megablock hours.

Suspended services:
-Panvel–Thane trains from 11:02 am to 3:53 pm
-Thane–Panvel trains from 10:01 am to 3:20 pm
To support commuter movement, special trains will run between CSMT and Vashi.

Uran Line: No Impact
Railway authorities have clarified that services on the Uran branch will operate normally, unaffected by the Sunday maintenance schedule.

Western Railway will simultaneously undertake a 10:00 am to 3:00 pm jumbo block between Borivali and Ram Mandir on the fast corridor.
-Up fast trains will switch to the slow line between Borivali and Andheri.
-Down fast services will run via the slow line between Andheri and Goregaon.

Railways Urge Commuters to Plan Ahead
Officials have advised Mumbai’s suburban passengers to account for delays, longer travel times and revised train paths. The megablocks, they emphasised, are part of routine maintenance essential for strengthening infrastructure and enhancing long-term safety across the world’s busiest suburban rail network.
