Mumbai Man Murdered, Buried Inside Home by Wife and Her Lover; Chilling ‘Drishyam’-Like Plot Unfolds in Nalasopara

Mumbai, 22nd July 2025 – In a shocking revelation straight out of a crime thriller, the decomposed body of 40-year-old Vijay Chavan was discovered buried beneath the floor of his own home in Mumbai’s Nalasopara, 15 days after he was reported missing. Police say his wife, Chaman, and her alleged lover Monu are the prime suspects in the murder and are currently absconding along with Chaman’s seven-year-old son.

Murder Was Pre-Planned, Say Police

According to investigators, the murder was meticulously planned. Around 12 days ago, Chaman reportedly had a pit, measuring 3.5 feet deep and 6 feet long, dug inside their house. Just two days later, new floor tiles were laid over the area, hiding the makeshift grave. The tiling cost Rs 1,200.

Chaman also allegedly attempted to access Vijay’s finances. Police say she generated OTPs using Vijay’s phone and withdrew money from various ATMs. Vijay, who worked as a home renovation contractor, had received Rs 6 lakh from an insurance policy and already had Rs 2–3 lakh in savings. He was planning to buy a new house and had transferred ownership of their current house to Chaman’s name.

Family Grows Suspicious

Vijay’s brothers, concerned after not hearing from him for over two weeks, visited his home last week. Chaman initially told them Vijay had gone to work in Borivali, Kandivali, or Malad. However, on July 19, she abruptly left the house with her son. CCTV footage later showed her casually purchasing samosas from a local vendor before vanishing.

The family broke into the locked house on Monday and noticed newly placed floor tiles that looked suspiciously different from the rest. Suspecting foul play, they alerted the police. A team arrived and began digging under the tiles, eventually discovering a black plastic bag containing Vijay’s decomposed body.

Love Affair and Greed Behind the Crime?

The murder appears to have been motivated by a mix of greed and illicit romance. Police sources claim Chaman was in a relationship with Monu, a neighbour. In a past incident, Monu’s mother had caught him speaking to Chaman and confiscated his phone, though it was later returned. The duo allegedly conspired to kill Vijay, take over his finances, and start a new life.

A murder case has been registered, and search operations are underway to trace Chaman, her son, and Monu.

As investigators dig deeper, the horrifying details continue to surface, bearing an eerie resemblance to the plot of the Bollywood movie Drishyam, where a body is buried beneath a family’s home to cover up a crime.
