Mumbai: MMRDA Speed Up New Projects; 28,104.98 Crore Budget; Focused On Strengthening Of Transport System
Mumbai, 11th March 2023: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) budget of Rs 28,104.98 crore for the year 2023-24 was presented on Friday (10th March). This budget was approved with a deficit of Rs.5014.41 crore. This budget focuses on strengthening the transport system in Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The new projects aim to complete the initial and final phase projects and bring them into service. On behalf of MMRDA, projects such as Metro, Sea Bridge, Elevated Road, and Road Improvement are currently underway. Now new projects such as sea route, underground route, sea bridge, and expansion of East Freeway are going to be undertaken.
Against this backdrop, substantial provision has been made in the budget for the projects to be completed and started in 2023. Importantly, the first phase of the Mumbai Parbandar Project (Shivadi-Nhavasheva Sea Bridge) and the Surya Regional Water Supply Project will be completed this year. Hence substantial provision has been made for these projects as well.
