Mumbai: MNS Issues Warning Over Water Woes: Threatens to Release 10,000 Rats in BMC Office

Santacruz, 6th December 2023: Residents of several parts of Santacruz have been grappling with contaminated and inadequate water supply for the past two years, leading to frustration and concerns about public health. Despite two marches held at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) departmental offices seeking resolution, the issue remains unresolved. In response, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has issued a unique warning, threatening to release 10,000 rats and cockroaches in the BMC’s departmental offices if the problem persists.
Residents of Ward No. 89 in the Kalina Assembly Constituency have been dealing with consistently contaminated water for the past two years. Despite efforts by the MNS and citizens, the BMC has not effectively addressed the issue, prompting the unique protest threat.
MNS and citizens conducted two marches at the BMC’s department office, seeking a prompt resolution to the water supply problem. The BMC administration assured citizens that the issue would be resolved within a few days. However, even after seven to eight months, the problem persists in the area, affecting the daily lives and health of the residents.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of action by the BMC, the MNS has warned of releasing 10,000 rats and mice in the H East Division office of the BMC. This unconventional protest is intended to remind the BMC administration of its promise to address the water supply problem in the area.
Residents of Gadevi, Milind Nagar, Waghariwada, Lal Bahadur Shastri Nagar, KA Subramanyam Nagar, Demello Compound, Navajeevan Wadi, and other areas in Ward No. 89 continue to face the challenges posed by insufficient and contaminated water supply.
Earlier marches at the BMC’s divisional office yielded written promises from the BMC to address the water problem promptly. However, MNS branch president Santosh Upralkar alleges that, despite the assurances, the BMC has not taken any concrete action to resolve the issue.
