Mumbai Museums Under Siege: Law Enforcement on High Alert Following Bomb Threat Emails

Colaba, 6th January 2024: Several prominent museums in Mumbai, including the Nehru Science Centre in Worli and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya in Colaba, were targeted with alarming bomb threat emails on Friday. This incident comes on the heels of a similar threat just five days prior, adding to the security concerns in the city.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) in Colaba reported the first threatening email, leading to an immediate response from law enforcement and bomb disposal squads. Subsequent emails were received by other museums throughout the day, prompting heightened security measures and investigations.

Promptly reacting to the alerts from museum authorities, law enforcement agencies conducted thorough investigations at the targeted locations. Bomb disposal teams were deployed to ensure the safety of visitors and staff. Fortunately, no suspicious items were found during the inspections, providing a sense of relief to the concerned institutions and the public.

By Friday night, the Colaba police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified individuals believed to be responsible for sending these hoax bomb threat emails. Standard operating procedures were followed to initiate legal proceedings against those behind the threats.

This incident follows a similar threat just five days ago when an unknown caller warned the Mumbai Police of impending bomb blasts in the city. The caller utilized the police helpline for a brief warning before disconnecting. The recurrence of such threats within a short timeframe underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies and the ongoing need for heightened security measures.

Law enforcement agencies continue to actively address these threats, taking necessary precautions to ensure public safety. The targeted museums are advised to remain vigilant, and security measures have been reinforced to prevent any potential risks. The incident highlights the importance of public awareness and cooperation in maintaining a secure environment.
