Mumbai Police Arrest 19-Year-Old for Kidnapping, Sexual Assault, and Murder of 9-Year-Old Boy

Mumbai, 3rd April 2025: In a horrifying incident, a 19-year-old man was arrested by the Mumbai Police for allegedly kidnapping, sexually assaulting, and murdering a 9-year-old boy in Kurla East. The accused, originally from Bihar, lured the boy with promises of food and money before committing the crime.
According to police reports, the accused met the victim on Tuesday and took him to Nagoba Chowk near a railway gate in Kurla East early Wednesday morning. When the boy resisted during the assault, the accused strangled him to death. The boy’s body was found with multiple injuries, indicating he was beaten before being killed.
The victim, who lived with his family in Central Mumbai, was declared dead at Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion after being taken there by authorities. A post-mortem examination confirmed signs of physical assault and strangulation. Forensic experts also visited the crime scene to collect evidence, and a dog squad was deployed as part of the investigation.
The Chunabhatti police registered a case under sections 103(1) and 104 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused was apprehended on Wednesday night and is currently in custody. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had no prior criminal record and had recently been residing in Bhiwandi.
Police are now investigating whether the accused has committed similar crimes in the past.
