Mumbai Police Arrest Two More Suspects in Guru Waghmare Murder Case, Total Arrests Rise to Five

Mumbai, 29th July 2024: On Sunday, Mumbai Police apprehended two additional suspects in connection with the murder of Guru Waghmare, a known criminal, at a spa in Worli. This brings the total number of arrests to five.

Waghmare, aged 48, was killed at the Soft Touch Spa in Worli on Wednesday. The latest arrests include Waghmare’s girlfriend, Mary Joseph, and spa manager Shamshad Ansari. Ansari is accused of disconnecting the spa’s CCTV cameras on the night of July 23.

Waghmare had tattoos of 22 names on his thigh, identifying his alleged adversaries, which helped the police in their investigation. Among those arrested is Santosh Sherekar, the spa owner, whose name was among those tattooed on Waghmare’s body.

According to the police, Sherekar allegedly paid ₹6 lakh to Mohammed Feroze Ansari to carry out the murder of Waghmare. Reports indicate that Waghmare had previously lodged a complaint against Sherekar’s spa and allegedly demanded extortion money to withdraw it. In response, Sherekar reportedly hired Ansari to eliminate Waghmare.

On July 23, Waghmare was seen partying in Sion with his girlfriend, who was employed at Sherekar’s spa. Later that night, he accompanied her to the spa. Around 2 am, while all three spa employees were out, two individuals entered the spa and killed Waghmare.
