Mumbai Police Summon Teen And Two Others Over Bomb Threats To Flights
Mumbai, 16th October 2024: Mumbai Police issued a notice to a teenage boy, his father, and another individual from Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh, requesting their presence for questioning regarding bomb threats posted on social media that targeted three flights, officials reported on Tuesday.
On Monday, three international flights departing from Mumbai received bomb threats. An Air India flight bound for New York was diverted to New Delhi and rescheduled, while two IndiGo flights faced several hours of delays.
Authorities confirmed that no suspicious items were found on any of the aircraft.
The bomb threat was communicated via a post on the micro-blogging platform X, and the account is currently under verification, according to police officials.
The two IndiGo flights, one headed to Muscat and the other to Jeddah, also received bomb threats before takeoff and were relocated to isolation bays for thorough security checks.
“On Monday, a bomb threat was reported on X regarding an Air India flight from Mumbai to New York, as well as IndiGo flights from Mumbai to Muscat and Jeddah,” stated Rajnandgaon Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg.
Following leads linking the tweet to Rajnandgaon, the Raipur Cyber Cell, Kotwali Police of Rajnandgaon, and Cyber Cell collected electronic data pertinent to the case, Garg explained.
Mumbai Police have filed a case against an unidentified individual and the associated X account.
“A team from Mumbai Police travelled to Rajnandgaon on Monday. Collaborating with local authorities, they issued a notice to a 17-year-old boy residing in Rajnandgaon, his father, and the individual whose X account was implicated. They have been summoned for questioning and further investigation in Mumbai,” Garg added.
