Mumbai: Policeman Dismissed Due To Attempt To Murder Case Reinstated

Mumbai, 26th February 2023: A police constable dismissed after being booked for attempt to murder and rioting has been reinstated. The case was registered in Hingoli in 2017 against police constable Shyam Mahadev Kuril, who was posted at Taddev Local Arms Division. One person was killed and five were seriously injured.

Kuril was suspended in 2017 and fired in July 2022 after the charges were filed. Opposing the order of dismissal, Kuril appealed to the government and presented his case. The government then commuted his sentence of ‘dismissal’ a week ago, and he was sentenced to two years without pay increment. After that, Kuril was reinstated in the service, an officer informed.

Jitendra Kuril, a young man, was murdered in 2017 at Rohidas Chowk in Hingoli city. A case of murder was registered against 18 people, including Shyam Kuril, at the Hingoli city police station. As Shyam was working in the Armed Police Force, a departmental inquiry was ordered into this matter. He was dismissed in 2022 as he was found guilty in this departmental inquiry. Jitendra Kuril was killed on August 17, 2017, due to a dispute over the organization of Dahihandi. A case was registered against a total of 18 people, including two policemen, from the Mumbai Police Force. All of them got bail during the Corona period.
