Mumbai: Quick Police Response Leads To Safe Return Of Kidnapped Toddler In Malad

Malad, 30th September 2023: In a swift operation, the Malad police successfully apprehended a 28-year-old woman who kidnapped a one-and-a-half-year-old boy from the Malad area. Police have safely reunited the child within a mere 12 hours. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working to determine the motive behind the accused woman’s actions.

The incident began when Kavita Vadar’s nine-year-old daughter and one-and-a-half-year-old son, residents of the Malad area, were playing near Gavdevi temple. At that time, a 25-year-old woman approached them and sent the girl on an errand to purchase biscuits from a nearby shop, providing her with money for the task. Seizing the opportunity, the accused woman abducted the toddler. After noticing that the boy was missing, Vadar promptly reported the incident to the Malad Police Station.

Recognising the gravity of the situation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Circle 11) Ajay Kumar Bansal instructed Senior Police Inspector Chimaji Adhav to launch a rapid investigation. Several police teams were swiftly assembled within the jurisdiction. Faced with a lack of substantial leads, the investigative team turned to technical methods to aid their efforts. Remarkably, their relentless pursuit led to the arrest of the accused woman, Sonam Mantosh Sahu, within a remarkable 12-hour time period. As a result, the one-and-a-half-year-old child was safely recovered from her custody.

The accused, Sonam Mantosh Sahu, is now in police custody and is being questioned about the motives behind her actions.
