Mumbai: Rail Safety Concerns Rise As Local Train Derails At Ambarnath

Mumbai, 18th June 2023: In a disconcerting trend, a series of accidents in the railway system have raised concerns about passenger safety. The latest incident occurred on Sunday morning when a downbound local coach derailed at Ambarnath, leading to significant disruptions in local services going towards Kalyan-Karjat. To address the situation, railway authorities have implemented a block in the Kalyan-Badlapur down section, while ongoing work on the Karjat-Kalyan section in the up direction is going on.
The incident took place at 8:25 a.m. when a wheel of the local coach derailed on the siding at Ambarnath. As soon as railway officers got information about the incident, concerned officials and employees rushed to the spot to assess the situation. Efforts are currently underway to restore the derailed local coach to the tracks. Meanwhile, the Central Railway Administration informed that there was no loss of life as the local was empty.
However, the incident has disrupted the local service schedule between Kalyan and Karjat, causing inconvenience to the passengers. Moreover, the Down LTT-Visakhapatnam train has come to a halt at Ambarnath. Also, one down Badlapur and Amaernath Local has stopped at Ulhasnagar.
Passengers have been greatly inconvenienced by these disruptions, as their journeys are now uncertain and unsafe. The Railway Administration is working promptly to resolve the issue and ensure the safe resumption of services as earliest as possible.
