Mumbai: Sanjay Gandhi National Park Launches E-Buggies to Promote Eco-Friendly Tourism

Mumbai, 20th October 2025: In a move to encourage sustainable and pollution-free travel, the Sanjay Gandhi National Park administration has introduced e-buggies for tourists. The initiative aims to offer visitors a clean, quiet, and eco-friendly experience while exploring the park.
The inauguration of the e-buggy service took place on Saturday, October 18, with Forest Minister Ganesh Naik announcing that 60 more buggies will be added soon. “This initiative will not only enhance the visitor experience but also create employment opportunities within the park,” said Naik. He also assured full support to develop international-standard tourism facilities in Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
The event also celebrated Wildlife Week, honoring students who excelled in various competitions. Individuals who made significant contributions to the establishment of the national park were recognized, along with forest workers dedicated to the conservation of forests and wildlife.
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal participated virtually in the ceremony. Other dignitaries present included A. Praveen Darekar, Prakash Surve, Manisha Chaudhary, among others.
The introduction of e-buggies marks a significant step towards promoting eco-friendly tourism and preserving the natural environment of one of Mumbai’s most important green spaces.
