Mumbai: Senior Citizen’s Gold Chain Snatching: Virar Police Nabs Trio Within 24 Hours
Virar, 28th February 2024: Less than 24 hours after forcefully snatching the gold chain of a senior citizen during a quarrel over a trivial matter, the Virar police’s crime detection unit successfully apprehended the trio in Bhiwandi on Saturday.
The unit initiated investigations, gathering information on criminals utilizing a similar modus operandi for such offences. Upon obtaining leads about the suspects, the team set a trap at a well-known dhaba on the Wada-Bhiwandi Road, leading to the successful arrest of the three individuals.
The arrested individuals include Ajgar Khan, alias Ajju, aged 43, considered the kingpin of the gang, with multiple cases registered against him in police stations, including Bhiwandi, Valiv, and Virar. His accomplices were identified as Miraj Ahmed Ansari, 33, and Jamaal Ansari, 38, all residents of Bhiwandi.
The police recovered a gold chain valued at Rs 1.10 lakh from the possession of the accused. They have been charged with voluntarily causing hurt in the commission or attempt to commit robbery. Following their appearance in court, the trio was remanded to custody.
