Mumbai: Shiv Sena Protests Outside Dharavi Police Station Over Alleged Assault on Former Corporator

Mumbai, 6th July 2024: In Mumbai, the Shiv Sena (UBT) initiated a protest outside the Dharavi police station on Saturday afternoon, calling for the suspension of Inspector Harshal Araspure following an alleged incident involving the slapping of former Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator Vasant Nakashe (51).

Nakashe recounted that he had visited the police station to resolve a minor issue concerning one of his party workers. “I met with Senior Inspector Raju Bidkar and we settled the matter amicably. As I was leaving the station, Inspector Araspure questioned my involvement. I explained that I was simply fulfilling my duties as a public representative. When he raised his voice, I requested him to lower it for a calm discussion. Suddenly, he slapped me forcefully. Is this how elected representatives should be treated?” Nakashe stated.

The news of the incident quickly spread throughout Dharavi, prompting several Shiv Sena (UBT) members, including former MLA Baburao Mane and ex-corporator Vithal Pawar, to gather at the police station. They chanted slogans demanding Inspector Araspure’s immediate suspension. Senior Inspector Bidkar was unavailable for comment at the time.
