Mumbai Suburban District Calls for Building Owners to Provide Hostels for OBC Students, Check Details Here

Mumbai, 22nd December 2023: In a bid to enhance educational opportunities for students belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC), Special Backward Classes Welfare Department has announced the establishment of two government hostels in Mumbai Suburban District. The initiative, as per the government decision dated January 30, 2019, aims to provide accommodations for OBC boys and girls in the region.
Applications are now being invited from various entities, including Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), MHADA, CIDCO, as well as private building owners and construction developers, to lease suitable buildings for the proposed hostels.
The details for the two hostels are outlined as follows: One Government Hostel for OBC boys, accommodating 100 boys, and one Government Hostel for OBC girls, accommodating 100 girls. The specified location is in a Mumbai suburban area, with a minimum area requirement of ten thousand sq. ft. Each building must include 10 toilets and 10 bathrooms, hold an official certification of completion, and the building owner must consent to amount as per the rate determined by the Executive Engineer, Public Works Department. Additionally, separate buildings are mandated for each hostel.
Interested parties, including MHADA, CIDCO, BMC, private building owners, and construction developers, are urged to review the terms and conditions specified by the concerned authorities.
