Mumbai: Three Arrested For Running Fraudulent Job Ring

Mumbai, 10th March 2023: On Friday, the Sakinaka Police announced that it had arrested three persons from Noida after breaking up an alleged fraudulent job ring. The trio was operating their business using call centres and social media posts, the police discovered.

According to the police, a complaint from an unemployed young person looking for employment in the Merchant Fleet led the Sakinaka Police to open a case in the matter in January 2023. Investigations into the case also showed that the defendants were reportedly involved in defrauding numerous foreign job applicants, stealing over Rs 43 lakh in the process.

According to the police, a team of police officers was assembled to look into the case as a whole. Based on technical inquiries, it was discovered that the accused was operating a call centre in Noida from which the crime was being committed.

The primary suspects in the case, Shivam Kumar Gupta and Udit Singh were found after a technical investigation was carried out by the police team. According to the police, Siddharth Bajpai, who was also reportedly involved in the crime, was also apprehended by the authorities.

Three suspects have been detained in relation to the crime, and their numerous bank accounts have all been frozen. The police were able to find 127 passports in all, as well as information on job applicants, throughout the inquiry.

Although the call centre was situated in Noida, the accused built temporary job placement offices in other locations and operated the business through call centres, the creation of websites, and social media accounts, according to the police. They used to charge potential employees a fee before closing their doors and vanishing.

The suspects are suspected of having perpetrated similar crimes in Lucknow, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Gujarat.
