Mumbai To Witness Heatwave, Becomes Hottest City In Country: IMD

Mumbai, 13th March 2023: On Sunday, the Mumbai and Thane districts of Maharashtra received a heatwave declaration from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The majority of the state’s areas are predicted to see dry weather. According to the weather service, isolated pockets in the North Konkan are also likely to see heatwave conditions.

Mumbai surpassed Delhi as the hottest city in the nation on Sunday, when the Santacruz observatory of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a maximum temperature of 39.4 degrees Celsius, six degrees above average and the city’s highest day temperature so far in 2023.

The 35.8-degree reading from IMD’s coastal observatory in Colaba was four degrees above average.
