Mumbai: Total Arrests Reach 11 in Investigation of NCP Leader Baba Siddique’s Murder

Mumbai, 23rd October 2024: On Monday, the Mumbai crime branch apprehended 29-year-old Amit Hisamsing Kumar in the Baba Siddique shooting incident, bringing the total number of arrests to 11. Kumar, who resides in Nathwan Patti near Goga Madi Temple in Haryana, was taken into custody on October 23, 2024. This arrest follows a thorough investigation conducted under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. He is identified as an associate of Zeeshan Akhtar, who serves as a link between Gurnail and Zeeshan.

Additionally, on Sunday, the Anti-Extortion Cell arrested 32-year-old Bhagwant Omsingh, a scrap shop owner in Belapur, Navi Mumbai. Omsingh is alleged to have played a crucial role in assisting the shooters involved in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. He has been remanded to police custody until October 26, with public prosecutor Randdhir Yelaave stating that Omsingh provided shelter to the shooters and facilitated their transportation of weapons.

Yelaave disclosed that the gang supplied three firearms—a Turkish pistol, an Australian pistol, and a locally made weapon—to the shooters responsible for the assassination. Investigations are currently underway to trace the financial aspects of the crime and identify the sources of the weapons.

In just the past week, police have arrested 10 individuals connected to the case, including the two shooters, Gurmail Singh and Dharmaraj Kashyap. The main shooter, Shivkumar Gautam, is still at large. Authorities suspect a possible link to the Bishnoi gang due to the shared involvement in the scrap business among those arrested.
