Mumbai: Water Supply Disruption in Bhandup West Due to Essential Repair Work

Mumbai, 25th January 2024: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a temporary disruption in water supply to parts of Bhandup West, starting on Thursday, January 24, owing to essential repair work on a major pipeline. The repair is anticipated to last approximately 12 hours.

Residents residing in the hilly areas of Bhandup West, including Srirampada, Tulshetpada, Waghobawadi, Ramnagar, Tanajewadi, Rawate Compound, Trimurti Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, Nardas Nagar, Tembipada, Sai Hill, Sai Vihar, parts of Sonapur, Khindipada, Gaon Devi Road, Gaon Devi Hill, Maroda Hill, Ganesh Nagar, and Sarvodaya Nagar, are expected to experience disruptions in water supply during this maintenance period.

The repair work will also affect water supply from key sources such as Bhandup Reservoir, Ramabai Nagar Pumping, Mahatma Phule Nagar Pumping Supply, and Asphalt Company. The BMC has issued an appeal to citizens, urging them to use water judiciously during this temporary inconvenience.

The need for urgent repair work arises from a leakage detected in the 1,800 mm Tansa pipeline near Shriram Pada. The water department has initiated prompt action to address the issue, resulting in a temporary reduction in water supply to the affected areas. The BMC assures residents that efforts are underway to complete the repairs swiftly and restore normal water supply as soon as possible.
