Mumbai: Young Man Helps Woman Deliver Baby on Ram Mandir Station Platform
Mumbai, 17th October 2025: In a remarkable act of courage reminiscent of a real-life movie scene, a young Mumbaikar assisted a woman in giving birth at Ram Mandir station in the early hours of Thursday.
Vikas Dilip Bedre, guided by his doctor friend over a video call, ensured the safe delivery of the baby on the railway platform, turning a moment of panic into one of hope and relief.
The incident unfolded around 12:40 am, when a woman traveling from Goregaon to Mumbai on a local train suddenly went into labour. Fellow passengers were alarmed and unsure how to help. Acting swiftly, Vikas pulled the train’s emergency chain to stop at Ram Mandir station.
Realizing the baby was already partially delivered, he immediately connected with Dr Devika Deshmukh, who instructed him step by step on how to manage the delivery.
Following her guidance carefully, Vikas assisted the woman in safely delivering her baby by 1:30 am. Witnesses said the newborn’s first cry resonated through the station, prompting applause from passengers and railway staff.

Musician Manjeet Dhillon, who shared a video of the incident on Instagram, called Vikas “an angel in human form.” He added, “The woman’s baby was halfway out. At that moment, it felt like God had sent him there for a reason.”
Dhillon also revealed that the woman’s family had earlier been turned away by a nearby hospital, leaving them with no option but to continue their journey. After the delivery, railway police and staff quickly arranged an ambulance to transport the mother and child to a hospital, where both were confirmed to be healthy.
In a city often defined by its fast pace and chaos, this act of selflessness highlighted the compassion and resilience of its residents. Social media users flooded the post with praise, with one comment capturing the sentiment perfectly: “Vikas Bedre, you are the pride of Mumbai.”
