Navi Mumbai Man Booked for Derogatory WhatsApp Post on PM Narendra Modi
Mumbai, 15th March 2025: A 33-year-old man from Taloja, Navi Mumbai, has been booked for posting a derogatory WhatsApp status about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, police said on Thursday.
Although the man later removed the post, he was charged under Sections 299 and 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertain to intentional acts aimed at insulting religious beliefs and hurting religious sentiments, along with relevant provisions of the IT Act.
The case was registered at the CBD Belapur police station based on a complaint filed by a police officer. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing, officials confirmed.
