Navi Mumbai Metro Services to Commence from Friday: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Gives Green Light

Navi Mumbai, 16th November 2023: After a prolonged period of controversy and anticipation, the Navi Mumbai Metro is set to commence its services for the residents of Navi Mumbai starting tomorrow (Friday). Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has issued an order to initiate the metro’s operations, marking the beginning of the first phase from CBD Belapur to Pendhar.

Navi Mumbai citizens have eagerly awaited the introduction of this metro system for the past 14 years. To alleviate any inconvenience to passengers, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the start of the Belapur to the Pendhar metro line from tomorrow without an official inauguration ceremony.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed, “From November 17, 2023, metro service will be started from Belapur to Pendhar on Route No. 1 of the Navi Mumbai Metro project, and the dream of the people of Navi Mumbai is coming true.” The introduction of the metro offers the people of Navi Mumbai a rapid, eco-friendly, and comfortable travel option, benefiting the rapidly developing Kharghar and Taloja nodes along with CBD Belapur through enhanced connectivity.

The Belapur to Pendhar route spans 11 km, with the last round scheduled for 10 pm. Starting from November 18, 2023, the first metro will operate between Pendhar and Belapur stations at 6 in the morning, and the final metro rounds on both sides will be at 10 at night. Metro services on Route No.1 will run every fifteen minutes.

For the convenience of commuters, metro fares have been structured as follows: Rs 10 for the 0 to 2 km stage, Rs 15 for the 2 to 4 km stage, Rs 20 for the 4 to 6 km stage, Rs 25 for the 6 to 8 km stage, Rs 30 for the 8 to 10 km stage, and Rs 40 for further stages. The commencement of Navi Mumbai Metro services is expected to significantly enhance transportation options and connectivity for the residents of the region.
