Navi Mumbai: Woman From Kharghar Cheated Of Rs 1 Lakh In Online Medical Check-Up Scam
Kharghar, 3rd August 2023: In a distressing incident, a 45-year-old woman who works as a teacher in Kharghar fell victim to financial fraud while seeking an online medical consultation. The incident came to light when the victim found that she had been cheated of approximately one lakh rupees. The incident has been reported to the Kharghar police station, after which the police are now on the lookout for the fraudsters.
According to the complaint registered at the police station, the victim initially examined her in a private laboratory. After checking, she started searching for doctors on Google to get accurate advice from them based on the reports.
It was during this search that the victim received an unexpected message with a link from an unknown mobile number, offering a doctor’s consultation for just five rupees. Trusting the offer, the victim clicked on the link and proceeded to enter her bank details.
After that, a fraudster Immediately syphoned off a staggering amount of Rs 99,999 from the victim’s account. After realising that she had fallen into the trap of the fraudster, the victim immediately filed a complaint with the Kharghar police station.
