Speaking at the ‘Viksit Bharat Ambassador, Viksit Pune Conclave’ organized at the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI), Fadnavis affirmed that the state government is aiming to kickstart land acquisition efforts for the new airport in the current year.
During the event, Fadnavis expressed, “The construction of the new terminal at Pune airport has reached completion, and its inauguration is scheduled for this Sunday, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officiate the ceremony via video conferencing. This is a momentous occasion eagerly anticipated by the people of Pune. However, looking ahead, Pune will witness the establishment of a new airport within the next three years, and the state government is committed to initiating the land acquisition process this year.”
In addition to the airport developments, Fadnavis highlighted the ongoing construction of the Pune to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar green highway, which aims to reduce travel time between the two locations to two to two and a half hours. He emphasized efforts to enhance connectivity for the citizens of Pune. However, when Fadnavis humorously mentioned that he will not be contesting elections from Pune, the audience responded with laughter.
