Night Block Between Panvel and Kalamboli to Impact Central Railway Express Services Till February 15
Mumbai, 21st January 2026: Central Railway will undertake an extended night block between Panvel and Kalamboli stations from January 18 to February 15, a move that is expected to disrupt several mail and express train services, while suburban operations are likely to remain largely unaffected.
Railway officials said the block is being implemented for the installation of an open web girder as part of a dedicated freight corridor project. The work will be carried out during night hours over multiple days, with at least six major blocks planned during the period.
While local train commuters may see minimal impact, long-distance passengers—particularly those travelling between Mumbai and the Konkan region—are expected to face delays and rescheduling. At least 16 express trains are likely to run behind schedule due to the block.
Several prominent Konkan Railway services have had their timetables revised, including the Tutari Express, Mandovi Express, Konkan Kanya Express, and Matsyagandha Express. These trains will be regulated or halted at various points to ease traffic congestion during the block.
According to revised schedules, the Mandovi Express, which usually departs from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at 7.10 am, will now leave at 8.20 am on block days and is expected to reach Madgaon approximately an hour later than usual.
In addition, the Daund–Gwalior Express will be diverted via the Karjat–Kalyan–Vasai route instead of Panvel. The Mangaluru–CSMT Express will be cancelled on select days, while other Konkan-bound express services heading towards Mumbai will be regulated en route.
Central Railway has identified January 25, February 3, February 12, and February 14 among the key block days during this period.
Passengers have been advised to verify updated train schedules before commencing their journeys and to plan travel in advance, particularly for overnight and long-distance services from the Konkan region.
