Pune: Fake Recruitment Module For Command Hospital Busted, Retired Civil Defence Employee Arrested For Cheating Over 58 Youths

Pune, 4th March 2024: In a joint operation, the officials from Military Intelligence unit of Army’s Southern Command and Kondhwa police station of Pune City Police, have arrested a retired civil defence employee of Command Hospital Pune who allegedly duped 58 youths of Rs 45 lakh under the pretext of helping them get jobs.

The accused had promised the youths to get them recruited as gardener, clerk, stenographer etc with the help of Commandant of the hospital.

The incident took place between 2021 and 2023. The accused had demanded Rs 3.5 lakh from each candidate. He had accepted the amount in cash as well as bank account.

Based on a complaint from a 52-year-old woman whose eight relatives were duped, Kondhwa police station has registered an FIR against Vinayak T Kadale, a resident of Lullanagar, who voluntarily retired from the Command Hospital Pune in November 2021. He claimed to work as account officer and had good relations with the Commandant.

According to officials, the military intelligence had received input last month about the involvement of an unnamed individual, likely a retired civil defence employee, in a fake recruitment module. After an initial investigation, the individual was identified as Kadale. Details of Kadale were procured, leading to surveillance.

On March 3, 2024, after confirming his location, the intelligence was shared with Kondhwa police station and Kadale was arrested.

Upon initial questioning, substantial evidence emerged regarding transactions amounting to Rs 45.70 lakh from approximately 58 prospective candidates, promising them positions as civil defense employees in Command Hospital, Pune.

The authorities have seized three mobile phones, one laptop, one bank passbook, and one cheque book during the operation.

Police have registered the case for offence under section 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). More accused are under scanner in the case.

Further investigation is going on.
