Pune: INDIA Alliance Accuses SBI of Delaying Election Bond Information Under BJP Influence; Supreme Court Intervenes

Pune, 11th March 2024: The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) Alliance alleges that the State Bank of India (SBI) is bowing to the influence of the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah-led BJP, resulting in a deliberate delay in providing detailed information on election bonds, as ordered by the Supreme Court.
INDIA Alliance claims that SBI’s actions are aimed at shielding the BJP’s corporate supporters and concealing the extent of the bonds allocated, particularly the significant amount benefiting the BJP. Despite SBI’s attempt to withhold information, INDIA Alliance, consisting of various political parties, including Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Marxist Communist Party, Aam Aadmi Party, and Samajwadi Party Youth Kranti Dal, staged a protest at the SBI main branch.
The Supreme Court promptly intervened, emphasizing the importance of transparency and autonomy in the democratic process, ordering SBI to immediately submit the required information to both the court and the Election Commission. Ajit Abhyankar of the Communist Party hailed this as a victory for judicial independence and Indian democracy.
