Pune: Kothrud Ward Office Team Chases Littering Offenders To Impose Fines

Pune, 2nd March 2024: In a decisive move to combat littering and uphold the principles of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Swachh Survekshan initiatives, the flying team of the Kothrud-Bavdhan ward office in Pune has taken stern action against individuals discarding garbage in public spaces.

The proactive approach of the team, established at the ward office level, was evident as they pursued and penalized those who thoughtlessly left garbage in public areas, especially those arriving in cars. Notably, the team went a step further by identifying the addresses of individuals responsible for littering and imposing fines accordingly.

Mukadam Vaijinath, a vigilant member of the squad, spotted citizens disposing of waste in public spaces upon their arrival in cars. Without hesitation, Gaikwad from the squad promptly chased down two vehicles and administered fines of two thousand rupees each. Simultaneously, four individuals were penalized for their irresponsible actions, and fines totaling five thousand rupees were collected, amounting to five hundred rupees per person.

Taking a tougher stance, the Samrajya Pooram Society and the Dahanukar Colony Development Board faced penalties for burning garbage in public places. A collective fine of ten thousand rupees was imposed on both entities as a deterrent against such environmentally harmful practices.
