Pune Metro’s Ruby Hall To Ramwadi Inauguration Expected On March 6

Pune, 1st March 2024: The much-anticipated inauguration of the extended Pune Metro route from Ruby Hall to Ramwadi is on the horizon, scheduled for March 6. According to sources within Mahametro, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to remotely flag off the metro on this route via video conferencing.

Originally planned for inauguration on February 19, the event faced a delay due to the Prime Minister’s scheduling constraints, leading to protests from various political parties. The revised date of March 6 has now been fixed for the inauguration of this significant metro line.

The final inspection of the extended metro line, spanning from Ruby Hall to Ramwadi, was conducted by Central Metro Rail Safety Commissioner Janak Kumar Garg from January 19 to 21. Identified errors during this inspection were promptly addressed by Mahametro, resulting in the submission of a comprehensive report to the commissioner. With certain conditions met, the commissioner granted permission, clearing the way for the commencement of metro services on this extended route.

The expanded metro service, initially launched on August 1 last year, covered a 9.7 km route from Vanaj to Ruby Hall. This route’s extension from Garware to Ruby Hall and further to Ramwadi marks a significant milestone in Pune’s metro connectivity.

The Ruby Hall to Ramwadi extended metro line, spanning 5.5 km, includes stations at Bundgarden, Yerawada, Kalyaninagar, and Ramwadi. Notably, Yerawada station’s entrance stairs, currently aligning with Nagar Road, are being relocated as per the Municipal Corporation’s request.

Consequently, Yerawada station will be temporarily excluded from the service on this route, with sources indicating its anticipated commencement within a month following the inauguration.
