Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate Reorganizes Zones to Adapt to Urbanization and Industrialization

Pimpri Chinchwad, 14th March 2024: Last year, the Government of Maharashtra, within the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC), sanctioned the creation of the third zone in September. Following eight months, a reorganization of these zones ensued.

The Independent Police Commissionerate for Pimpri Chinchwad City commenced operations on August 15, 2018, initially structured into 2 zones. This setup initially comprised 14 police stations, with the subsequent addition of four new stations: Chikhali, Shirgaon, Mahalunge MIDC, and Ravet.

In response to the escalating urbanization, industrialization, growth of educational institutions, and the proliferation of vehicles within the Commissionerate’s jurisdiction, the necessity for an additional zone became evident. Acting upon this need, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey pursued the matter at the governmental level, leading to the approval of the third zone in September 2023.

Sandeep Doifode assumed the role of the inaugural Deputy Commissioner of Police for Zone 3. Subsequently, after eight months, a restructuring of all three zones took place. Notably, Ravet Police Station, originally part of the Wakad Division in Zone 2, was incorporated into the Chinchwad Division of Zone 1 according to the revised arrangement.

The refined structure of the zones is as follows:

Zone 1:
– Pimpri Division: Pimpri Police Station, Bhosari Police Station, Sangvi Police Station
– Chinchwad Division: Chinchwad Police Station, Nigdi Police Station, Ravet Police Station

Zone 2:
– Dehu Road Division: Talegaon MIDC Police Station, Talegaon Dabhade Police Station, Dehu Road Police Station, Shirgaon Parandavadi Police Station
– Wakad Division: Wakad Police Station, Hinjawadi Police Station

Zone 3:
– Chakan Division: Chakan Police Station, Mahalunge MIDC Police Station, Alandi Police Station
– Bhosari Division: Dighi Police Station, Bhosari MIDC Police Station, Chikhali Police Station
