Pune: State Ministry Revives Sixth Phase of Teacher Transfers after Six-Month Break
Pune, 6th November 2023: In a recent meeting of the Ministry of School Education, the decision to reinstate the sixth phase of inter-district teacher transfers was reached, following its suspension six months ago. This decision allows those who have already applied for transfers to edit their forms online. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for substitute teachers who haven’t applied yet to submit their applications. Deputy Secretary of Maharashtra State Tushar Mahajan conveyed this directive to the Education Commissioner.
The meeting, chaired by Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar at the Maharashtra Primary Education Council in Mumbai, aimed to address various teacher-related issues in the state. Representatives from various teacher associations were present, and in response to their demands, it was decided to implement the policy of inter-district teacher transfers. The sixth phase of this process was initially scheduled for execution earlier but was postponed due to school-related reasons. Consequently, teachers who had applied in 2022 were unable to be transferred at that time. However, the decision has now been made to proceed with the inter-district transfers.
As a result of this decision, teachers who applied for inter-district transfers in 2022 can make online edits to their applications. Furthermore, substitute teachers who haven’t yet submitted their applications now have the opportunity to do so. Deputy Secretary Tushar Mahajan issued this directive to the Education Commissioner, with instructions for its immediate implementation. Consequently, the long-delayed sixth phase of the inter-district teacher transfer process, which had been postponed for six months, is set to commence.
Manoj Marathe, State General Secretary of Maharashtra, stated, “A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar along with Education Secretary Ranjit Singh Deol, Deputy Secretary Tushar Mahajan regarding the pending issues of primary teachers on Friday (3rd). It was decided to implement the sixth phase of inter-district transfer considering the demands made by us on behalf of the teachers’ union.”
