Rs 10,519 Crore Budget Allocation for Pune Outer Ring Road Land Acquisition

Pune, 28th February 2024: In a major development, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is set to receive a substantial allocation of Rs 10,519 crore for land acquisition for the Pune Outer Ring Road. This allocation was announced in the interim budget presented by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday.

MSRDC officials have officially confirmed that the allocated amount aligns with their budgetary demands, reflecting a positive step towards the timely completion of land acquisition. The officials express optimism, targeting a completion deadline of June for the entire land acquisition process.

During a recent review meeting, MSRDC officials, along with Pune divisional commissioner and land acquisition authorities, set the ambitious June deadline. The land acquisition is strategically divided into two phases — western and eastern. Remarkably, almost 90% of the land required for the western phase has already been acquired, and efforts are underway to commence land acquisition for the eastern phase.

The Pune Outer Ring Road, spanning a proposed length of 136.80 km, holds promise in alleviating traffic congestion within the city by redirecting the flow of vehicles. This infrastructure project is a vital component of the state’s initiative to enhance connectivity and ease transportation challenges.

Additionally, the interim budget highlights a substantial outlay of Rs 22,225 crore earmarked for land acquisition for the Virar-Alibag multimodal corridor, also under the purview of MSRDC.
