Rs 36 Crore Worth Cocaine and Meth Seized from Nigerian Woman on Mangala Express

Panvel, 18th July 2025: In a significant joint operation, authorities seized narcotics worth approximately ₹36 crore from a Nigerian national onboard Train No. 12618 Hazrat Nizamuddin–Ernakulam Mangala Express at Panvel Railway Station on July 18, 2025.

The operation was conducted by a combined team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Panvel, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Bangalore, and Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) Kurla, Mumbai following intelligence inputs from NCB Bangalore regarding drug trafficking on the train.

Acting on the alert, the joint team intercepted the train at Platform No. 7 upon its arrival. During the search of Coach A-2, Seat No. 27, officers found a Nigerian woman accompanied by an infant, carrying a multicoloured travel bag. She identified herself as Etumudon Doris, holder of Nigerian Passport No. A06895991, and stated the infant was her child, named “Miracle.”

Upon questioning in the presence of witnesses, Doris confessed to carrying narcotics. She was escorted to the RPF Post at Panvel, where a detailed search of her luggage was conducted.

Inside the travel bag, officials recovered two black rectangular packages marked “VINTAGE,” which tested positive for Cocaine using a field drug detection kit. The total weight of the cocaine was found to be 2.002 kilograms.

Further inspection of a red-and-blue Mickey Mouse-themed children’s bag inside the main luggage revealed two additional packages labeled “Kellogg’s Corn Flakes” and “Bongchi Perfect Roll.” These packets were found to contain 1.488 kilograms of Methamphetamine.

The combined narcotics haul of 3.49 kilograms has an estimated international market value of ₹36 crore, as per officials.

The contraband was formally seized by Shri Murari Lal, Junior Intelligence Officer, NCB Bangalore. The accused has been listed as Accused No. 3 in case number 21/2025/BZU. Legal proceedings are being carried out under the supervision of the designated investigating officer.
