Sahar Police File Case Against Woman for Making Hoax Bomb Threat at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai, 16th December 2024: The Sahar Police have filed a case against an unidentified woman for making hoax bomb threats at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The woman reportedly made two calls claiming a bomb was on a Delhi-bound flight. After thorough inspections, no suspicious items were found, police confirmed.
Preeti Majwelkar, a 44-year-old assistant manager at the airport’s Joint Control Centre, complained. Acting on it, police have charged the woman under Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita Sections 125, 352(4), and 353(1)(b).
According to the complaint, the accused called the airport helpline at midnight on 15th December, alleging a bomb had been planted on a Delhi-bound flight and insisting the flight be halted. This prompted a high-level security meeting and detailed checks of the aircraft, but no threats were detected.
The woman later called again to confirm if the flight had departed for Delhi. Based on the investigation, police charged her with spreading false information to disturb public peace.

Authorities have warned the public against such actions, emphasizing their impact on public safety and the severe legal consequences for offenders.
