Spa Owner in Thane District Accused of Raping Employee Under False Marriage Promise

Thane, 18th December 2024: A case has been filed against a spa owner in Thane district for allegedly raping a 25-year-old employee under the pretence of marrying her, as reported by the police on Wednesday.

The accused, who ran the spa in the Airoli area, is said to have committed the crime multiple times over the past nine months. According to the Naupada police, he reportedly raped the woman at her home in Thane city after promising to marry her and offer her a salary increase.

The accused also allegedly physically assaulted her and threatened her with severe consequences when she resisted his advances, the police official said.

Following the woman’s complaint, the police registered the case on Monday under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including sections 64 (rape), 115(2) (causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation).

The investigation into the matter is ongoing, the police confirmed.
