State Government Approves Dongri Village Site for Mumbai-Metro 9 Car Shed
Mumbai, 27th July 2023: The Maharashtra state government has given the green light to the Dongri village site in Uttan for the car shed of the Mumbai-Metro 9 route. This decision comes after strong opposition from local residents regarding the original plan to construct car sheds in the villages of Rai, Murdha, and Morwa.
The ‘Metro 9’ line, spanning 10.5 km between Dahisar and Mira Road, aims to enhance commuting efficiency. However, recent protests by locals forced the government to reconsider the car shed location.
During the monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister acknowledged the residents’ demands, leading to the cancellation of the carshed in Morwa, Rai, and Murdha.
The local residents proposed an alternative site in Dongri village, which the state government has now approved. However, this revised plan calls for a 5 km extension of the ‘Metro 9’ route. Consequently, a revised plan will be prepared for land transfer in accordance with the new proposal.
