Swift Response Averts Disaster: Mumbai Fire Brigade Battles Vehicle Blaze in Andheri, Saves Lives

Mumbai, 13th December 2023: In the early hours of Wednesday, a fire broke out on Mahakali Keluskar Road in Andheri (East), Mumbai. The Fire Brigade of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) responded swiftly to the incident, which was reported around 2:25 am and updated by the Fire Brigade at 06:22 am. The fire was localized to three vehicles—Maruti Suzuki Wagon R (MH 03 CP 4780), Maruti Suzuki Wagon R (MH 02 EH 3936), and an unidentified car with an obscured registration number—parked opposite the Trans Residency building in Andheri East.
Thanks to the efficient coordination and rapid response of the MFB, the fire was successfully extinguished by 02:44 am, preventing further escalation and damage. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Unfortunately, amidst the incident, a casualty was reported. Faruq Siddhiki, 45 years old, suffered severe burns, accounting for 90% of his body. Immediate emergency medical response led to Siddhiki being swiftly transported to Trauma Care Hospital via a 108 ambulance. Recognizing the severity of the situation, he was later transferred to Kasturba Hospital for more specialized and intensive medical treatment.
This incident follows another report earlier in the week. A moving mixer truck caught fire on the Western Express Highway in Borivali, Mumbai, near the Devipada metro station on Sunday night. The truck driver sustained injuries in the fire, prompting a response from Kasturba police and fire brigade personnel who promptly engaged in efforts to douse the flames.
