Thane: 22-Year-Old Woman Dies By Suicide After Being Tortured By Her Father-In-Law

Thane, 24th March 2023: It has come to light that a woman, Rekha Suryavanshi (22), died by suicide by hanging herself after being harassed by her father-in-law in the Balkum area of Thane. Based on the complaint given by Suryavanshi’s brother, a case has been registered against her father-in-law at Kapurbawdi police station for abetting suicide.

Suryavanshi lived in Balkum with her two small children, husband, and father-in-law Shankar Suryavanshi. Rekha Suryavanshi used to be mentally disturbed by her in-laws for several reasons. Rekha Suryavanshi had also told her brother Ankush Pawar about it. On the morning of 22nd March, when Ankush Pawar was at work, Rekha Suryavanshi called him on his mobile phone and asked him to come to Balkum immediately because she was suffering from mental problems. But Rekha Suryavanshi hung herself before Pawar could reach Balkum. She was admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Based on the complaint given by Pawar in this matter, a case has been registered against Shankar Suryavanshi for abetting suicide at Kapurbavadi police station.
