Thane: Accused Released Just Week Ago Returns To Prison Following Another Theft Spree
Dombivli, 12th August 2023: In a continuous spree of theft, an accused individual who had been released from prison merely a week ago after completing a sentence for theft has found himself back behind bars. Identified as Suraj, with the sobriquet Goldy Patiya, the accused’s criminal activities appear to have resumed shortly after his release.
The recent incident unfolded near Shamrao Vitthal Bank on Savarkar Road, Dombivli East, where a house was targeted by the accused. The stolen loot, amounting to a staggering sum of Rs 52,000, included a collection of some valuable gold and silver jewellery.
A few days ago, a complaint of burglary was filed at the Ramnagar police station. After which, a police team consisting of Senior Police Inspector Nitin Geete, the team of Police Inspector Balwant Bharade, and Police Constable Sachin Bhalerao started a comprehensive investigation in this case under the guidance of Dombivli Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Kurade.
During the investigation, authorities suspected Suraj, a resident of the Dombivali area, of stealing items from the property. As a result, the accused was apprehended by police on suspicion of being engaged in the theft. After being detained, the accused admitted his involvement in the theft. According to his statement, the accused, who runs a business selling old clothes, would first investigate the property under the guise of selling garments before stealing it.
After his detention, police have seized a sum of Rs 52,000 and a collection of some valuable gold and silver jewellery from him.
