Thane: Dr. Shrikant Shinde Inspects Infrastructure Projects and foresees Traffic Relief in MMR
Thane, 5th December 2023: Exciting developments in the infrastructure sector are set to bring relief to commuters in the Airoli-Katai Naka flyover route in Palava City, particularly on Shilphata Road. The elevated road works are in the final stages, with significant progress achieved in the construction of the Airoli-Katai Naka elevated road. Most of the work on these roads has been completed, and certain routes are expected to be open for traffic in January and February of the upcoming year.
Member of Parliament, Dr Shrikant Shinde, who inspected ongoing development projects in Bhiwandi, Shilphata, Kalyan, and Mumbra areas, expressed optimism about the easing of traffic congestion. MP Shinde remarked that starting from the new year, travel between Kalyan, Dombivli, Badlapur, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, and Thane will become more seamless.
The inspection tour began in the Ranjnoli area of Bhiwandi, where MP Shinde highlighted the importance of completing projects promptly to alleviate traffic issues. The flyover on Shilphata Road, for instance, is expected to have three lanes open for traffic by January 15, providing much-needed relief from existing congestion.
MP Shinde also emphasized that the left-hand lane on the Airoli-Katai Naka elevated road, connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai via Shilphata Road, will be operational by the end of February. Additionally, plans include the construction of a flyover at Mumbra Y Junction, further contributing to the improvement of traffic flow.
To address ongoing challenges in the Shilphata-Mahape pipe road area, where one lane has been closed for aqueduct work, MP Shinde instructed officials to expedite the completion of these works and announced the commencement of flyover work in the same area.
With the completion of the Airoli-Katai elevated route, the journey from Shilphata to Navi Mumbai is expected to be reduced to 45 minutes, covering a distance of 12 km, with a 1.68 km-long tunnel included in the route.
