Thane: Former Corporator Booked for Assaulting Doctor After Road Accident

Thane, 5th June 2025: Police have registered a case against former Thane Municipal Corporation corporator Mahesh Suresh Wagh of Shiv Sena for allegedly assaulting and abusing a government doctor following a road accident at Meenatai Thackeray Chowk on Tuesday.
According to the Rabodi police, the incident occurred when a government orthopaedic surgeon’s car was hit by a vehicle reportedly driven by Wagh. The doctor, in his complaint, stated that his vehicle was damaged due to the impact.
Following the accident, Wagh allegedly hurled abuses and slapped the doctor. The complainant further claimed that the former corporator was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Based on the complaint, Rabodi police have registered a case against Wagh under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 324(4) (mischief), along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. The investigation is underway.
