Thane Man Arrested for Allegedly Molesting 18-Month-Old Cousin’s Daughter
Thane, 24th September 2024: A 21-year-old individual has been arrested on charges of allegedly molesting his cousin’s brother’s 18-month-old daughter in Thane district, Maharashtra, as reported by local authorities. The incident took place on May 8 in the Bhiwandi region, according to an official from the Narpoli police station.
The child’s mother informed her husband about the situation, leading to both him and the accused threatening her. Authorities have also filed charges against the child’s father for these threats.
Despite the incident occurring in May, the complaint was only formally lodged on Sunday, with no explanation given for the delay. An official indicated that the accused allegedly stripped the child and committed the act of molestation. After the mother raised her concerns with her husband, he and the accused reportedly issued threats of severe repercussions.
As a result of the woman’s complaint, a case has been registered against both men under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 354 (which pertains to assault or criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention), in addition to sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
