Thane: NCP Workers Booked For Assaulting Assistant Municipal Commissioner

Thane, 16th February 2023: Assistant Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Aher, who is also in charge of the anti-encroachment department, was allegedly assaulted by seven members of Jitendra Awhad on Wednesday in Thane.

The Naupada Police have registered an FIR against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to murder. The incident reportedly occurred minutes after an audio clip video went viral on Wednesday evening, wherein Aher is allegedly heard conspiring to harm the family of NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad.

According to reports, Aher was exiting the rear gate of the HQ when the men suddenly attacked him. A few security staff intervened and managed to separate them. Aher was then admitted to the Jupiter Hospital. The accused include Abhijit Pawar, the private secretary of Jitendra Awhad, and four others.

The incident has caused concern and outrage, with many calling for a thorough investigation and action against the accused. The police have assured the public that they are conducting a fair and impartial investigation into the matter.
