Thane Police Rescue 15 Women from Bangkok in Anti-Trafficking Operation at Ulhasnagar Lodge

Thane, 4th October 2024: The Anti-Extortion Cell of Thane police rescued 15 women from Bangkok, Thailand, who were allegedly coerced into prostitution during a raid at a lodge in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra, on Tuesday night. The women were reportedly enticed to India with false promises of high-paying jobs.

Four individuals, including the manager of Sitara Lodging and Boarding, were arrested and charged with human trafficking and related offences.

Authorities reported that the victims had been subjected to forced labour and sexual exploitation. During the operation, police seized ₹5.27 lakh in cash along with other incriminating materials.

Senior Police Inspector Shekhar Bagde confirmed the arrest of a suspect named Kuldeep, alias Pankaj Singh. “We are investigating how the women were brought to India and are working to identify those involved in the trafficking,” the officer stated.
