Thane: Traffic Jam Due To Fire In Shilpata; One Killed, Another Injured In Transformer Explosion
Thane, 11th March 2023: In the Shil-Diwa area of Shilphata at around 6.30 am on Friday (10th March) morning due to the explosion of torrent company’s electrical generator and a fire on the channels, a traffic jam was caused on the Shilphata to Mumbra bypass road till Retibandar Bridge and Dahisar Mori. The police closed the traffic here for some time to control the fire. This added to the dilemma. It took drivers 1.5 to two hours to cover the distance of just 15 minutes. Vishal Singh (35) died in the blast while another person was injured.
The Disaster Management Department said that the cause of the fire was not clear. An underground pipeline of Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) has passed through this area. The department says that the intensity of the fire is increasing as it is suspected that the channel may have burst. There was a lot of air pollution in the area due to the fire. Due to this, the residents of the area also suffered. The power supply was also disrupted in some areas of Mumbra and Shilphata.
The Thane traffic police closed the Mumbra-to-Mahape road for some time after efforts to control the fire started. Due to this, there was a traffic jam on the Shilphata to Mumbra bypass road. Traffic here started from the one-way route in the afternoon as the problem started increasing.
