Thane: Woman Dies After Being Pushed in Front of Train at Diva Station; Accused in Custody

Thane, 19th July 2025: A tragic incident unfolded at Diva railway station in Thane district on Friday morning, where a 39-year-old woman was fatally pushed onto the tracks in front of a moving goods train following a confrontation with a man.

The incident occurred between 5:00 am and 5:30 am on platform number 5-6. According to Thane Railway Police, the accused, Rajan Shivnarayan Singh, who resides in Diva East, got into a heated argument with the woman during which he allegedly attempted to molest her. As she resisted, Singh reportedly grabbed her by the neck and forcefully pushed her in front of an oncoming train. The woman died instantly.

Railway police constable Sagar Shinde, who was present nearby, chased down the accused as he tried to escape and managed to detain him shortly after the incident.

Senior Inspector Archana Dusane confirmed that Singh has been arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including murder. He has been remanded to police custody for five days as investigations continue.

“We are examining CCTV footage from the station and speaking with potential witnesses to establish a clear timeline of events,” Dusane added.

The incident has sparked outrage among locals and reignited concerns over safety measures for early-morning commuters at suburban railway stations.
