Thieves Steal Rs 7 Crore Worth of Gold Jewelry in Thane Robbery

Mumbai, 18th December 2024: On Wednesday, the police reported that two unidentified individuals allegedly stole 6.5 kg of gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 7 crore from a jewellery store in Thane.
The robbery occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Tuesday at the shop near Thane railway station.
The thieves initially broke the lock on a staircase door leading to the first floor, then forced open the shop’s shutter to gain access to the jewellery. According to the Naupada police, the store lacked standard security measures. Unlike typical practices where jewellery is stored in safes overnight, the valuable items were left openly displayed, allowing the robbers to act quickly.
“This lapse in security made it easier for the thieves to execute the theft in a short time,” said a police official.
The Naupada police have filed a case under relevant sections against the unknown suspects.
Investigation teams have been set up to track down the culprits and recover the stolen gold. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage, speaking with locals, and analyzing forensic evidence to identify the perpetrators.
“Our teams are working diligently, following all leads, to solve this complex robbery,” an official added.
