Time To Design Your Dream Year: Crafting the Ultimate Vision Board for 2025

Reported by Shruti Sneha

Mumbai, 23rd December 2024: As curtains draw close to 2024, a new chapter unfolds; a blank slate awaiting aspiration, dreams, and goals for 2025. The end of one year and the beginning of another present an opportunity to look backward and chart a path into the future. One among many ways to set intention for the future stands tall in its creativity and potency: the vision board.

A vision board serves as a physical reminder of our goals and is more than just a collection of text and pictures. Making a vision board may help you keep your ambitions alive throughout the year, organise your goals, and spark your imagination—regardless of whether you’ve heard of the idea before or are new to it.

What Exactly Is a Vision Board?

A vision board represents your dream, desires, and aspirations; it’s mostly a paper collage containing pictures, affirmation, and symbols related to whatever you wish to achieve in life.

Dr. Ankita Keshri, a psychology professor based out of Mumbai, explains further: “When you pen down your goals or, as in this case, mark them on a board, you are 42 percent more likely to achieve them. Vision boards enhance that effect by constantly reminding you of your objectives.

The science of visualisation has a strong foundation in this idea. The reason visualisation works is because it stimulates your Reticular Activating System (RAS), which is the area of the brain responsible for focussing on the important things and blocking out distractions. Making a vision board prepares your mind to see possibilities and act in ways that support your objectives, Dr. Keshri continues.

What Makes a Vision Board

The individual who creates a vision board is what makes it special. Here are some essential components you could use:

1. Images: Images that symbolise your goals, such as a successful profession, a healthy lifestyle, or a tropical vacation.

2. Words and Quotes: inspirational sayings or phrases like “Healthy Lifestyle,” “Financial Freedom,” or “Dream Big.”

3. Symbols: recognisable images that have personal significance, such as a dollar sign for prosperity, a tree for growth, or a heart for love.

4. Personal Items: Valuable keepsakes that relate to your objectives, including pictures, ticket stubs, or notes.

5. Colours: Choose colours that are uplifting and consistent with your goals, such as gold for achievement, blue for serenity, or green for progress.

What Makes Vision Boards Effective?

According to experts, vision boards are based on sound goal-setting techniques and psychology. Maharashtra-based Dr. Kunal Sharma, “You can rewire your brain towards success by focussing on visualising your goals and engaging its plasticity.” You are inspired to take the required actions to realise your dreams when you see them every day.

Additionally, Dr. Sharma says, “Your brain functions like a magnet. You’re likely to attract whatever you put your attention on. A vision board assists you in concentrating your energies on the possibilities and the good.

How to Make Your Own Vision Board

Do you want to get your 2025 roadmap ready? Here’s how to make a vision board that effectively communicates your objectives:

Consider Your Objectives

Spend some time considering your goals in the following areas of your life:

Financial and professional

Relationships, fitness, and health

Individual development

Experiences and travel

Note down your objectives so that your purposes become clearer.

Preparation

Collect all the materials required for bringing your vision board into existence.

A board may be needed for putting things on. It may be a corkboard, poster board, or even a digital one.

Newspaper clippings, cut outs from magazines, and prints

Scissors, glue, pins, and tapes

Markers or pens to write

– Decorative items such as stickers, washi tape, or ribbons

Gather Your Images

Find images, words, and quotes that resonate with your goals. Select images that motivate and inspire you.

Plan Your Layout

Place your selected items on the board before you attach them. You can arrange them by theme, such as health and career, or simply create a collage.

Make Your Board

After your layout is complete, affix everything to the board. Make sure it reflects your distinct style and is aesthetically pleasing.

Set Up Your Board From a strategic standpoint

Put your vision board somewhere you’ll see it every day, such above your desk, in your bedroom, or, if it’s digital, as the background on your phone or computer.

Examine and edit

Your vision board might change as your goals do. To maintain your motivation, check it frequently and update it as necessary.

Starting 2025 with a purpose

As Dr. Rahul so aptly states, “A vision board is a tool, not magic. However, when applied regularly, it facilitates the development of momentum and clarity, opening the door for significant transformation.

How would you describe the life you hope to build in 2025 on your vision board? Spend some time carefully creating it, then let it motivate you each day.
