Woman Killed, Three Injured as Mumbai’s Rubinisa Manzil Building Collapses After Heavy Rain

Mumbai, 20th July 2024: A woman was killed and three others injured when the front section of a building on Mumbai’s Grant Road collapsed following heavy rainfall earlier in the day.

The collapse, which involved parts of the second and third floors and a balcony of the four-storey Rubinisa Manzil building, occurred in the morning. At the time, approximately 35-40 people were inside the building, all of whom had been safely evacuated.

Photos from the scene depict locals lifting concrete slabs to rescue a man trapped under the debris.

A portion of the building’s front remains precariously suspended.

Emergency services, including fire engines, police, and ambulances, are on site.

This incident marks the first major building collapse of the monsoon season, during which Mumbai and its surrounding areas have experienced severe rainfall over the past three days.
